«VGTRK» Round-the-clock News Channel “News 24
Round-the clock news channel “News 24” based on Thompson’s DNP solution.
The system is based on completely tapeless technological process. Its core is production system including ingest, editing and playout stages. It includes a studio with SONY cameras and Autoscript prompters. The production chain is based on Thompson equipment. It includes I-VDR servers for recording incoming feeds, central media storage, New Edit editing stations, I-VDR as playout video servers. All these, being united by The Gigabit Ethernet, are a system of end-to-end tapeless news production. Four incoming feeds are recorded and logged for future use. The process is being controlled by Ingest Station. Recorded materials are automatically placed into central media storage, where they become almost immediately available for video editing.
New Edit editing stations are connected to central media storage, and this enables start editing immediately without data transfer (initial materials are available for editing in 40 seconds after record started). Two I-VDR servers are used for News stories playout under NewsQ Pro control. It is possible to use up to 4 independent playback channels for broadcasting and plasma screens in the studio. There are 4 editing suites with NewsEdit XT for News stories preparation and one NewsEdit SC station for preliminary editing and general media files management. Finished material could be sent from the editing station to the playout servers; simultaneously the link between the item and the placeholder in the playlist is created.
Video switcher Thompson Kayak DD 2 is used for controls management of the live feeds, signals from playout servers, allows create DVE and graphics compositions.
The audio transmition and processing path is wholly digital. Zirkon console (by Lawo) has 2 independent processing cores, each of them includes several varied types of input modules: analogue microphone and linear, digital AES and SDI. Both cores are connected by MADI interface and operate as audio router. They are connected with video router as well. This is way to commutate SDI audio with the Lawo console and eliminate audio level in routers.
Multiscreen system Miranda Kaleido is used for visual control. Vizrt technology is used for titling and graphic support of the News. Facility includes sound recording booth connected directly to the editing stations.
The new channel is already a part of “NTV+” basic package, and in the future “News24” will broadcast terrestrial and by cable operators. This way “OKNO-TV” once again demonstrated its leadership in using modern equipment for building production-broadcasting complexes.
