The Launch of News Broadcasting Complex for “Channel 1”
Okno-TV developed the largest News Broadcasting Complex in Eastern Europe. Currently news production is taking place in the brand new technological facility. The first important broadcasting was Russian presidential elections in the year of 2008.
The News Broadcasting facility is based fully on the tapeless technology from shooting to broadcasting. The facility serves tasks of gathering, preparation and playout of the news materials using tapeless technology, which allows processing the huge amount of data really fast.
The technological project was done in the close cooperation with major solution providers and vendors for broadcasting equipment and IT. More than 100 engineers were working on the project. The new facility was successfully integrated with “Ostankino” TV Centre infrastructure for feeds exchange.
The complex provides production for up to 3 different news shows at the same time, permanently 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. About 500 people can work at the facility; the number of journalists’ workstations with simultaneous access to media and news materials is 150. The core components are under continues IT based monitoring. It allows making changes and resolving possible issues remotely. Important part of the project was also preservation and digitization of the legacy archive, including more 10 years of news bulletins of “Channel 1” and “Vremya”. Deep archive has capacity up to 100 000 hours of video. The ingest part allows simultaneous recording for more then 25 incoming feeds.
This project is the most significant within the last 10 years both in Russia and CIS countries
